ABOUT ME

How I Began and Where I’m Headed

I'm Jennifairy (Jen) Gillett.

My journey into this work began with my own experiences of pregnancy & motherhood, and the privilege of supporting a few of my friends through their pregnancies and births as a lay support person. I graduated from the inaugural direct-entry Bachelor of Midwifery at FUSA in 2004, and then went on to achieve my IBCLC qualification in 2012. From that point onward I have worked in my own private practice and as a Community Midwife through Mt Barker Hospital, specialising in postnatal and lactation care. I became an Endorsed Midwife with prescribing rights and able to offer Medicare rebates in 2021.

Since 2019 I have been co-facilitating an internationally recognised course for aspiring lactation consultants, providing them with the education needed to apply for & pass the IBCLE exam and begin their journey into professional lactation support.

And for nearly twenty years I have been part of a team of women that teach medical students to undertake woman-friendly sexual health examinations through both Flinders and Adelaide universities.

I am a member of the Australian Breastfeeding Association; Lactation Consultants of Australia & New Zealand; and the Women's Health Teaching Association.

My extensive experience means that I'm fully equipped to guide, support and assist you and your family in achieving the outcomes you desire. I am not on-call for births so I am available when you need me, offering specialised and consistent advice and support.

As a passionate supporter of parents, regardless of feeding choice, I aim to provide professional, compassionate and non-judgmental assistance when you need it. Get in touch to learn more about my personalised approach and how I can help you.
